The history & future of Greenham Common

Greenham Common historian Jonathan Sayers will present “A history of Greenham Common” largely covering its history as a RAF base but also taking a quick peek at what lay there before the base. In the second part of this talk, Jacky Akam from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust(BBOWT) and Adrian Wallington (Ranger for Greenham & Crookham Common) from West Berkshire Council, will discuss the present management of this countryside site and the future plans. Genealogy and the Baily family

Thatcham in stone & metal

In the first part of this talk, local metal detectorist Malcolm Langford will talk about what Thatcham was like during the Stone, Bronze & Iron Ages. Malcolm will show examples of some of the tools used by these people with real artefacts. This will be followed by Chris Ellis from Wessex Archaeology who will then present “Ritual and rubbish in the Iron Age.”
